A few times a summer, Medomak hosts specialty weeks that are meant to enhance the normal family camp activities we offer. Weeks like 'Astronomy Week' are not meant to only attract folks who are into astronomy. In fact, the normal family camp program will be still be intact and run as usual, but special programs will be offered...just a little something extra to entice you to attend and make your week with us even more fun.
Astronomy Week July 27-August 2, 2014
Medomak has verifiably some of the darkest skies anywhere, with the milky way a regular sight at camp. We will have Sky and Telescope senior contributing editor J. Kelly Beatty and telescope maker Bruce Berger to guide us on nightly tours of the sky. Join us for big telescopes, quirky science experiments and meteors blazing across the sky.
“What a memorable week we had! Thank you to the counselors and all the staff for making it special (especially Nick’s birthday on the day we arrived). We loved all the activities and learned so many new things. It was great to ‘unplug’ and experience the beauty of Maine and Medomak. We hope to be back!”
