We encourage campers to get out of camp on Wednesday and explore the Maine coast. There is too much to see and do locally to miss out on what Maine has to offer.
Popular destinations are:
 |
 Camden
One of Maine's most beautiful port towns offers hiking up Mt. Battie in the Camden Hills State Park, exploring The Nature Conservancy Preserve next to Lake Megunticook, visiting the many shops and docks, and taking a day sail out to the islands.
Belfast harbor, shops & co-op
Damariscotta
The gateway to Pemiquid Beach, harbor & famous oysters
Pemiquid Point
The most photographed spot in Maine, Atlantic beach & lobster pounds
Boothbay Harbor
Whale watching, sport fishing, sea-kayaking and sailing.
|
 |
 Lincolnville, Thomastown
More beautiful port towns with beaches and lobster pounds, as well as cafes, galleries, lighthouses and quaint fishing villages.
Port Clyde
The lighthouse used in the film Forest Gump, catch the ferry to Monhegan Island.
Rockland
The Farnsworth Museum, home to Wyeth's most famous works and the nearby Olsen farm, of "Christina's World" fame are only 1/2 hour from camp. Rockland is full of cafes and galleries to suit every taste. Try the Lobster Festival during the first week in August, visit the Maine lighthouse museum or walk to the historic Breakwater lighthouse. |
 |
 Birch Point State Park
Atlantic crescent sand beach & tide pools
Baxter State Park
Outside of Camden boasts Mt. Katahdin, highest point in New England
Freeport
home of LL Bean and outlet shopping is an hour away. |
 |
Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor
Spectacular views and rocky coastline make this national park, located only 1 1/2 hours from camp, one of the most popular destination points in all of Maine. |
We are so close to so many places in Maine that a day of exploration is a must! Wednesday is officially "Box Lunch Day." Lunches are provided and most campers return for dinner and just in time for evening activity.
Staff will be happy to assist you in making your day plans. Families are welcome to stay at camp on "Box Lunch Day" and enjoy the facilities. Please be aware that there is no scheduled programing from after breakfast until dinner. |
