A few times a summer, Medomak hosts specialty weeks that are meant to enhance the normal family camp activities we offer. Weeks such as 'Astronomy Week', 'Photography Week' and 'Outdoor Adventure Week' are not meant to only attract folks who are into astronomy, photography or outdoor living skills. In fact, the normal family camp program will be still be intact and run as usual, but special programs will be offered...just a little something extra to entice you to attend and make your week with us even more fun.
Outdoor Adventure Week June 29-August 4, 2012
Join Peter Bosma, adjunct professor at Northern Michigan University and Medomak staff alumnus, for a week of exploring Medomak's woods and lake. Learn fire by friction, identify useful and edible plants on the property and explore, explore, explore!
Photography Week August 5-11, 2012
Andrew Shapiro, owner of the Austin School of Photography and one of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff people we've ever employed, will be joining us to teach you ALL about your digital camera. Forget about that "auto" setting you've had it locked on. Andrew makes your camera and photography in general, understandable and his enthusiasm is infectious.
Astronomy Week August 12-18, 2012
Medomak has verifiably some of the darkest skies anywhere, with the milky way a regular sight at camp. And this week in particular is special for two reasons: 1) The Perseid meteor showers will be at peak and 2) We will have Sky and Telescope past senior contributing editor J. Kelly Beatty and telescope maker Bruce Berger to guide us on nightly tours of the sky. Join us for big telescopes, quirky science experiments and meteors blazing across the sky. |

"What a wonderful week and a wonderful place! Fun activities, terrific people, both campers and staff. A truely relaxing vacation. Even though I live very close, I felt I was away on vacation. Thank you to the staff for making Medomak Camp a wonderful place...see you all next year!"
